I can't say enough good things about Ames Research products like Maximum Stretch, especially for RV's. We applied the product just like the direction said and we used a sprayer. The roofs are not leaking and have withstood temperatures from minus 5 to 95 F. The coatings cost about 7 percent the price of 3 new roofs. The roofs were already leaking and had been for a few years. I applied ames roof coatings to 3 schools in WV. Also, kudos to the Ames techs for a quick response to questions. Time will tell but right now I would definitely recommend this product. The coatings are thick but brushes on better than any paint I ever used. Per Ames Tech I am applying Maximum Stretch over Block and Wall Liquid Rubber. I am repairing and coating my old exterior cinder block wall above grade. Covered lap joints & seams well on second coat. Applied from puddle with rolker & brush onto new mteal roof with almost zero pitch. I coated my metal shop roof with this product and had enough left over to coat my RV as well! Its adheres very well and we haven't had any call backs so far. We used Elasto Barrier and Fabric on the flat roofs prior to appling the Maximum Stretch. My brother and I have used this product directly to several metal roofs and have also completed 4 commercial flat roofs as well. Posted by Aaron Brothers on 16th May 2023 5 My brother and I have used this on over 10 roofs now.I used this product as a top coat and Blue Max as the base coat 3 years ago and its been great so far. If you can paint and follow directions this is a snap to do, I might ad I am 69 so if I can do it so can you. Only time will give me true feeling of how well product works, but at this time I am very impressed. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to Ames roofing product on my 1500 square foot commercial store roof, following Genes recommendations after preparing roof ( cleaning with pressure washer) using two coats of elasto barrier and to coats of maximum stretch. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and wet mop. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust into the air. Use protective clothing to avoid contact with fiberglass, skin or eyes.If coating is subjected to rain, before it has properly dried, and wash off occurs, it is necessary to immediately wash stained surfaces with soapy water to prevent staining. Dried film is difficult to remove from any surface. Allow 24 hours for full cure.Ĭlean brushes, tools and other equipment with soapy water immediately after use. During these 4 hours, at least 2 hours should be of direct sunlight. In order to prevent any chance of “wash off” of freshly applied coating, do not apply at temperatures below 50☏ (10☌), or when rainfall, cold, darkness or high humidity are expected within 4 hours after application. Under normal conditions of 70☏ (21☌ ) and 50% relative humidity, the second coat may be applied within 1 to 2 hours at the same rate as the first coat. First coat must be dry before second coat is applied. Apply each coat at right angles to each other by brush or roller. For maximum performance, two coats are required. If coating comes in contact with any surface other than the roof, wash it off immediately.Īpply, un-thinned, at the rate of 200 square feet per gallon, per coat. It is recommended to cover and protect the exterior sidewalls as well as front and rear caps of the RV with plastic sheeting to avoid the coating sticking to surfaces other than the roof. Metal RV Roof Coating is for use on Roof Surface only. Note: For application on an aluminum surface, our Dicor Metal Rust Inhibitive Primer is required for proper coating adhesion. Seal all joints and roof seams with Dicor Coating Ready Cover Tape RP-CRCT-4-1C. Seal all fasteners and around all roof protrusions and vent mountings (vents, lander stanchions, etc.) with Dicor Lap Sealant. Prime clean rust removed areas with Dicor Metal Rust Inhibitive Primer RP-MRRIP-Q. Be sure all surfaces are sound and clean, and all rust has been removed down to bright metal, using mechanical methods such as wire brush, sandpaper or steel wool. Thoroughly rinse with water and allow to dry completely before proceeding. If chalk remains on a previously painted roof, repeated washing may be necessary. Remove all loose dirt, oil, rust, chalk, mildew, loose coating or other contaminants, which would prevent maximum adhesion of the fresh coating. Download our handy coating application timeline HERE !
